Jigstar Africa Newsletter 24th July 2009-07-24

Hi all, we trust that you are all well, weathering the icy chill of winter – and counting down the days until we can get our gear on the boats again and seriously bent on big fish!

This newsletter has been a while in coming due to important new developments occurring for us at Jigstar Africa and for you - the Jigging and Popping community both in SA and abroad.

On the product front, we complement our existing offerings with MAJOR additions:

1. Jigstar Africa has been appointed as the Official Distributer of Ocean Revolution for sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Island groups. This distribution agreement includes all Ocean Revolution Popping and Jigging Rods. OR rods are manufactured by Smith Ltd. Of Japan, rated as one of the best rod manufacturers in the world. Our initial shipment is scheduled to arrive in SA mid- August and will include the following:

2. Jigstar Africa is complementing our existing range of TW handmade jigs with a range of jigs from Chaos. Chaos provides us with high quality, locally manufactured jigs ranging from 165g-335g in Head, Centre and Tail-weighted designs. This ensures a wide range of jigs covering most water conditions and target species found around Southern Africa at a competitive price-point. Yup, and apparently they work very well! Johan Wessels of Fishing Pro Shop has just returned from Bassas da India and he had his collection of Chaos jigs decimated by the sea-monsters. I hear there is an article documenting this trip coming out soon, and to be published in a regular Fishing publication. OK, Chaos jigs - excellent budget option, Chaos jigs are priced from R90 to R99.

Vertical Jigging Presentation and Social Evenings

Andre and Roy will present on Vertical Jigging, the equipment and techniques. Fun evenings, we will keep them (free) inter-active, informative and of course there will be refreshments (not free) available. These presentations are currently scheduled to take place in Pretoria at Fishing Pro Shop on Wednesday 12th August at 19:00, and in Simon’s Town at FBMT on Wednesday 19th August at 19:00. Invitations will be sent to all Jigstar Africa subscribers during the next week, so please pencil in these dates. Good fun will be had by all in dispelling the myths of jigging being a Black Art!

For our subscribers outside of Pta / Jnb and the Cape Peninsula where access is difficult, there will be more sessions that will follow in other regions – after the response we received from Andre’s presentation at the Tackle Box in Shelly Beach?
